29-year-old Romanian national from Washington state linked to counterfeit jewelry scam
Remus Miclescu was arrested Feb. 16 about a day after two men were reported trying to sell counterfeit gold jewelry in the parking lot at Walmart in Līhuʻe. He was later released from custody on his own recognizance.
Unsettled weather expected; surf advisory begins later today for north, west shores
Heavy rain was already falling over all of Kaua’i earlier this morning, sparking a flood advisory that was eventually canceled about 8:15 a.m. A cold front forecast to stall out near the Garden Isle was expected to bring additional rain and even a chance for thunderstorms before beginning to dissipate this afternoon.
