Injured hiker rescued from ʻUluwehi Falls
Air 1 arrived at the scene and found the injured hiker near the falls. The visitor was extracted from the area the afternoon of April 1 and taken to a rendezvous point near the ‘Ōpaeka‘a Falls Lookout, where he was transferred to awaiting firefighters and medics.
New ‘E-Z Pass’ text scam circulating on Garden Isle
Kaua‘i County Department of Finance reports the text says the person who receives it must satisfy an “E-Z Pass lane debt” to avoid fines and suspension of their driving privileges. It also directs people to a cloned website, where scammers hope to collect their personal and financial information.

Efforts to restore the flame Friday were unsuccessful. The next step is to clear the line or replace the plugged section of piping. More will be known about the situation and a possible solution by early this week.
