Kauaʻi firefighters extinguished a brush fire near Hanamāʻulu Beach Park early the morning of July 4 in Hanamāʻulu.
No injuries were reported; no structures were threatened.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 2:40 a.m. Saturday to a report of a fire in the vicinity of Hehi Road. They found an about 50-by-50-foot blaze burning near the old Hanamāʻulu Bridge, below Kapule Highway.
Crews worked from the highway above to control and extinguish the fire, using hose lines, an aerial master stream and water shuttled by tanker to control and extinguish the fire.
Kauaʻi Police Department closed Kapule Highway in both directions for public safety. The highway has since reopened.
Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 4:45 a.m. Saturday.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
Personnel with the Līhuʻe and Kōloa fire stations, Tanker 3, Rescue 3, the on-duty Kauaʻi Fire Department battalion chief, Airport Rescue and Fire Fighters from Līhuʻe Airport and Kauaʻi Police Department responded to the blaze.
