Kōloa contractor Goodfellow Brothers will be taking on the $12 million project which will have a new drainage system and improvements for pedestrians.

The County of Kaua‘i Department of Public Works says that temporary full road closure will be necessary for some of the repair. The public is being asked to plan for alternate routes and allow extra time to get to destinations.

Temporary full road closure will be necessary for portions of this repair. When possible, one lane will remain open to accommodate alternating traffic in both directions. Access will be provided for residents in the area.

A portion of Niumalu Road, near the Hulemalu Road intersection, will be closed to all through traffic. The road will be open to local traffic only for residents accessing their properties within the closure.

The closure is necessary for roadway construction. During this time, lanes will be shifted to help accommodate for the construction. Please note that Kawaihau, Hau’a’ala, and Mailihuna Road will experience temporary road narrowing. Additionally, please note that during student pick-up and drop-off times, work effort will be minimized to help accommodate both Kapa‘a High School and the elementary schools.

The closure is necessary for permanent roadway striping and roadway construction. During this time, lanes will be shifted to help accommodate for the construction. Kawaihau, Hau’a’ala and Mailihuna Road will experience temporary road narrowing.

This will be a right lane closure in the northbound direction, in the vicinity of North Leho Drive and Kuamoʻo Road, beginning Sept. 18 through Sept. 22 from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. for crews to install replacement pins in the bridge deck.

The portion of Pu’uwai Road that will be closed is an unpaved road, without residential or commercial dwellings, therefore, no vehicle or pedestrian access will be allowed during working hours.

One lane of Kamookoa Road on Kaua‘i will remain open to accommodate alternating traffic.

Both Kaua‘i road closures are needed for road resurfacing work.

Starting May 15, lane closures and one-way traffic will begin for portions of Weliweli Road, between Kōloa Road and Waikomo Road.

The closure is necessary for roadway excavation and curb construction. During this time, lanes will be shifted to help accommodate the construction.
