The facility will be shuttered from March 10 to January 2026. Parking along the west side of Ola Road, from the tennis courts to Kaumuali‘i Highway, will be closed to the public during the project. Parking along Tsuchiya Road adjacent to the tennis courts will also be off-limits.

Man involved in single-vehicle collision died from medical reasons, not injuries in crash

The 76-year-old from ‘Ele‘ele was identified as Ronald Valdez, who was traveling east Feb. 21 on Kaumuali‘i Highway when the truck he was driving struck a guardrail in front of the ‘Ele‘ele Shopping Center. Valdez was found unresponsive at the scene.

53-year-old man dies after reported disorderly incident at Līhu‘e Airport

The man was reported as being disorderly by airport law enforcement, who requested assistance from Kaua’i police with the man early Wednesday morning. He was already being detained by airport officers and in need of immediate medical attention when police arrived at the airport.

No foul play is suspected. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death. Aul’s body was found Feb. 26 near Salt Pond Beach Park.
