Starting Sept. 18, there will be a single lane closure on Kūhiō Highway near Hanalei Plantation Road and the Hanalei Bridge from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The single-lane closures in each direction, with alternating traffic throughout Olohena Road, will be performed and are necessary for roadway reconstruction. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes and to expect brief and occasional delays.

The closure is necessary for permanent roadway striping and roadway construction. During this time, lanes will be shifted to help accommodate for the construction. Kawaihau, Hau’a’ala and Mailihuna Road will experience temporary road narrowing.

Beginning Sept. 18, applications will be available for the 2024 Lānaʻi axis deer hunting season.

This will be a right lane closure in the northbound direction, in the vicinity of North Leho Drive and Kuamoʻo Road, beginning Sept. 18 through Sept. 22 from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. for crews to install replacement pins in the bridge deck.

The two latest victims to be officially identified are 68-year-old Michael Gordon and 60-year-old Carole Hartley, both of Lāhainā. A total of 67 victims have now been named.

Lane closure schedules can change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

Kaua‘i Humane Society is at risk of losing its no-kill shelter status which could result in a loss of funding to the nonprofit.

Kaua‘i Police continue their search for Chris Santos.

Chris Santos, 48, is wanted in this homicide investigation, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Santos is believed to still be on Kaua‘i.
