According to preliminary reports, at approximately 6:35 a.m., Kaua‘i Police was dispatched to a report of a traffic crash involving a bicyclist and a motor vehicle. A bicyclist traveling southbound on Nalo Road attempted to make a right turn onto Ho‘one Road. After overtaking a vehicle near the stop sign, the bicyclist collided with a Toyota Tacoma operated by a 24-year-old Hanapēpē male traveling eastbound on Ho‘one Road.

The department will be sending out notices to licensees in the coming days.

Fire crews have cleared the scene and Waimea Canyon Drive is now open.

The 53-year-old was last seen at a family member’s residence over a week ago and is known to frequent the Kīlauea to Kapa‘a areas.

The Kaua‘i Police Department is currently rerouting traffic in the area to assist in the response.

“After undergoing extensive renovations, we are pleased to announce that the Kapa’a Swimming Pool will reopen to all swimmers this Thursday,” said Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami.

Repairs will be made on four different parking lots.
