Search for missing swimmer to continue
The search for a missing 19-year-old swimmer on Kaua‘i’s North Shore will continue for a fourth day.
First responders and others searched for Jaren Asalele of O‘ahu until sundown Tuesday and will resume their efforts Wednesday morning. The teen went missing in waters off Kalihiwai Beach on Saturday.
On Tuesday, multiple agencies searched for a full third day for the missing man. Responding agencies Tuesday included Ocean Safety officers and Hanalei firefighters on jet ski; Kaua‘i Fire Department dive team personnel, Rescue 3 specialists aboard Air 1 and the on-duty battalion chief; Kaua‘i Police Department officials, who led the operation as incident command; personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard, who provided air, sea and land assets; and volunteers with Kaua‘i Search and Rescue.
Officials have not yet been able to locate Asalele.
All agencies are expected to be part of the search efforts Wednesday.
