Land, sea and air search suspended for Anahola woman missing since Monday

Benetta Kaiwi was last seen Oct. 7. First responders located her unattended vehicle about 100 feet down a cliff near Lumaha‘i Beach that evening.

Idaho visitor dies in waters off Lumaha‘i Beach

At approximately 3 p.m. on Feb. 28, first responders were dispatched to Lumaha‘i Beach for a swimmer in distress. According to a preliminary report, the victim had been swimming when she was suddenly swept out into deeper water.

Brown Water Advisory issued at Lumahai Beach

The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer, manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and associated flood debris.
