Repairs to Hanalei Water System completed, restoring dependable operation

A pump motor at the Maka Ridge Pump Station failed April 4, affecting a 250,000-gallon water storage tank; a resulting water conservation request for the Hanalei and ʻAnini Beach areas was lifted and pump fixed last weekend, 3 months later.

Kauaʻi County Department of Water is still gathering the necessary contractor services, equipment and components to make repairs to a water system pump station that experienced a mechanical failure.

Child on Oʻahu confirmed to have measles

The unvaccinated child was traveling internationally with their parents and developed symptoms shortly after returning to Hawaiʻi. Another household member is now exhibiting similar symptoms and being evaluated for possible infection.
