Fire Prevention Week 2025 kick-off event takes place Oct. 4

LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Fire Department, in partnership with the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center, invites the community to the 2025 Fire Prevention Week kick-off event on October 4 at the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“This event is a valuable opportunity to bring our partners and community together to focus on preventing both home fires and dangerous wildfires,” said KFD Fire Chief Michael Gibson. “In addition to our community risk reduction programs, we want to share our public education curriculum with families to encourage important fire prevention conversations that start at home.”

The no-cost event will include informational booths by the Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency, Kaua‘i Police Department, Firewise Hawai‘i, Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife, and other parter agencies. Additionally, there will be fire extinguisher training, hands-on CPR demonstrations, personal wildland fire education, and information on the fall prevention program for kūpuna.

A family event, the kick-off will include fire trucks, picture taking with Sparky, games, prizes, and more.

For questions, please call KFD Prevention Captain Kaeo Kinoshita at 808-241-1982 or email jkinoshita@kauai.gov.
