How Well Do You Know Koolau?
You're Invited to Find Out
How well do you really know Koolau?
Not the place—the *people*. The stories that shaped it. The traditions that run through its soil. The lives that built this community into what it is.
On July 2, we're bringing something rare to the North Shore: Gary E. Smith, author of Koolau, Kaua'i: A History Through the Stories of Its People—a book about our home told through the voices of those who truly know it.
This isn't a lecture. This is a conversation with someone who has listened to the North Shore's heartbeat and captured it in print.
Kilauea Lighthouse Bistro | Wednesday, July 2 | Noon
Gary will share the stories behind the history—the struggles, the triumphs, the aloha that defines who we are. You'll hear about people and places you recognize. You might see your own family's story reflected at you. And you'll walk away with a deeper understanding of what it means to be part of this 'ohana.
The North Shore doesn't get enough of these moments—where we stop, sit together, and remember who we are and where we come from. This is one of them.
Whether you've been here your whole life or just found your way to our shores, you belong in this conversation. Bring a neighbor. Bring someone who's curious. Bring anyone who cares about Koolau's story—and ours.
This is community. This is history. This is home.
