‘Āina Kaulana o Wailuanuiaho‘āno - A Celebration of Wailua

I Ola Wailuanui is pleased to announce we are hosting a kaiāulu (community) event on Sunday, October 13, 2024!  The day after, October 14, 2024, is Indigenous People's Day.

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the significance of Wailuanuiahoʻāno and to celebrate this wahi pana (storied place) with moʻolelo boards, speakers, meaʻ ai (food), mele (song), and oli (chants).

Educational boards will feature information on various topics such as the heiau complex, wai (freshwater), the history of aliʻi and land ownership, and more! We are excited to have speakers kuʻualoha hoʻomanawanui, Mark Jeffers, and Andre Perez.

To wrap up the day, there will be a sign-waving event along Kūhiō Highway. Sign-waving participants are encouraged to bring signs that convey messages of restoration and preservation of this wahi pana.

Come learn and celebrate the rich history of Wailuanuiaho‘āno (The Great and Sacred Wailua). There will be speakers, talk story sessions, lunch, mele and oli honoring our wahipana. We look forward to seeing you there!
