Loulu are Hawaiʻi’s only native palms. They are ecologically and culturally vital, serving as a primary resource for practices like hale construction and weaving. Today, these iconic plants are threatened by coconut rhinoceros beetle — but you can make a difference! Join us for a day of celebration for loulu in McBryde Garden and connect with this cherished plant through activities, presentations, and guided walks! Take home your very own and help us care for loulu for generations to come.
Joining us for Loulu Love Fest is easy! Simply park at the Lāwaʻi Gardens Visitor Center (4425 Lāwaʻi Rd, Kōloa) and board a complimentary shuttle for a brief, scenic ride into McBryde Garden. Admission to the festival is free and no registration or advance booking is required. Shuttles will run on a continuous loop throughout the day, allowing you to arrive at your convenience and return to the Visitor Center whenever you are ready.
