Join us for a free hands-on workshop focused on protecting Kauaʻi from the invasive Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB).
The CRB Trap Building Workshop will take place Saturday, March 28, from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. at the Kīlauea Community Agriculture Center. Participants will learn how CRB traps work, how to build a simple and effective trap, and how traps can support neighborhood response efforts.
Materials will be provided, and participants will build and take home their own CRB trap.
The Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle is a serious pest that damages and can kill coconut palms and other palm species, as well as plants such as hala and banana. The workshop aims to empower residents, gardeners, and community members with affordable, practical tools to support island-wide efforts to respond to the pest.
Participants can sign up with the link below. The first 25 people to register will receive a free trap kit to build at the workshop and take home. After the first 25 sign-ups, community members are still welcome to attend the workshop, but materials may be limited.
