Event Overview
Join us for Hihiakalāhau: Wailua Work Day, a community volunteer event dedicated to mālama ʻāina and preserving it for future generations. This hands-on day combines stewardship and education, empowering participants to deepen their connection to Wailua’s natural and cultural heritage.
Volunteers will help with restoration and maintenance activities that support the health of the ʻāina while learning about the history of this culturally significant place.
Agenda
8:15AM: Arrive
8:30AM: Opening protocols
9:00AM-12:00PM: Cleaning and clearing
12:00PM-2:00PM: Lunch and cultural workshop
Parking
Smaller cars park by Poliahu heiau and you will be picked up at the entrance to the road by Wailua River lookout. Shuttle will run from 8AM-8:25AM.
Trucks and higher-set vehicles can turn onto the road across ʻŌpaekaʻa falls (on Wailua river side of the road) and follow the road down to the site.
