The public is invited to celebrate Earth Month at Ho‘olaule‘a No Ka Honua – A Celebration for the Earth, a no-cost, family-friendly event honoring sustainability, agriculture, and community on Kaua‘i. The fourth annual event will take place Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall.

Hosted by the County of Kaua‘i Office of Economic Development and the Kaua‘i Economic Development Board, the event brings together local organizations, cultural practitioners, and community leaders working to care for our island home.

"Ho'olaule'a No Ka Honua shows how small actions can add up to meaningful change," said OED Director Nalani Brun. As the ʻōlelo noʻeau reminds us, ʻAʻohe hana nui ke alu ʻia -- no task is too big when we work together. By sharing ideas, learning from one another, and taking action together, we can strengthen our island for generations to come."

This year’s theme, Mālama ʻĀina, Mālama Kai, Mālama Kākou, highlights the connection between caring for land, ocean, and people to build a more resilient and sustainable Kaua‘i.

“Ho‘olaule‘a No Ka Honua celebrates the traditional wisdom that a healthy ʻāina sustains a healthy community,” said KEDB Executive Director Jackie Kaina.  “When we mālama ʻāina, we mālama our future. This event reminds us that caring for our island begins with the everyday choices we make.”

Bring the whole ‘ohana and enjoy a morning of learning, culture, and fun, including:

Community exhibits: Connect with more than 20 local organizations working in agriculture, conservation, and sustainability.

Hands-on demonstrations: Learn from cultural practitioners through activities such as niu weaving, lei-making, and caring for culturally significant plants at home.

Entertainment and giveaways: Enjoy live entertainment with emcees Chanel Flores and Nick Kaneakua, plus prize giveaways throughout the event.

Celebrate, learn, and be inspired by the people and practices that mālama our island. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.
