For nearly two decades, the Never Forget Sandy G. Golf Tournament has brought our community together to honor the life, legacy, and spirit of Sandy Mendonca—a beloved wife, mother, friend, and community member whose kindness, generosity, and love for others continue to inspire us today. What began as a tribute by the Mendonca ʻohana has grown into a powerful community tradition that supports survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault across Kauaʻi. Through their continued commitment and generosity, the Mendonca family has helped ensure that Sandy’s memory lives on through hope, healing, and support for those facing some of life's most difficult challenges. Although this event proudly honors Sandy Mendonca's legacy, it has also grown into a space where our community can remember and celebrate the many people who have touched our lives. Each year, participants carry with them memories of loved ones, friends, family members, colleagues, and survivors whose stories continue to inspire us. Through over 100 years of service, YWCA Kauaʻi has been honored to support countless individuals and families across our island. This tournament serves as a reminder that every life matters, every story leaves a legacy, and together we can transform remembrance into hope, healing, and support for future generations. Every day, individuals and families turn to YWCA Kauaʻi seeking safety, advocacy, shelter, and a path forward. While the need for these services remains great, funding for these critical programs continues to be a challenge. That is why the 19th Annual Never Forget Sandy G. Golf Tournament, taking place on Sunday, August 2, 2026, is so important. This event is about much more than golf. It is a day of remembrance, community, and compassion—a day when friends, families, businesses, and supporters come together to make a lasting impact on the lives of survivors throughout our island. We invite you to be part of this special day by registering a team, becoming a sponsor, making a donation, or contributing an item to our silent auction. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly supports YWCA Kauaʻi's programs and services, including emergency shelter, crisis intervention, advocacy, and support services for survivors and their families. We are also currently seeking donations for our silent auction which will be available live in the next coming weeks! Gift certificates, unique experiences, artwork, hotel stays, services, merchandise, and other items are greatly appreciated. Silent auction donations provide a meaningful opportunity for businesses and community members to support survivors while helping make this event a success. Together, we can continue to ensure that survivors know they are not alone and that help, hope, and healing are available.
