The woman visitor was found by responding Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel the morning of 4th of July sitting in a kayak on the beach, under the shade of trees, being assisted by bystanders. Her ankle was splinted and she was flown by Air 1 to Princeville Airport to awaiting emergency personnel.

At this time, Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) is in a “watch” condition, meaning that if weather conditions intensify in the next 24 to 48 hours Hawaiian Electric may proactively shut off power in communities with high exposure to wildfire risk.
