Kaua‘i Fire Department turned over the incident to state officials earlier Wednesday and will be on standby to provide assistance if requested. Waimea Canyon Drive, from Panini Place to Kōke‘e Road junction, and Kōke‘e Road near mile-marker 7 are also now open.
Repair work on one-lane Kīpū Bridge to further reduce lane width
Road work scheduled from May 12-Nov. 1, weather permitting, for $1.9 million project that includes fixing spalled concrete on bridge’s abutments, piers and deck; applying new asphalt overlay; and installing guardrails at both ends, among other necessary repairs.
