The Kawaihau Community Little League Majors All-Stars are continuing a historic postseason run after earning the title of 2026 Hawaiʻi State Champions and securing a spot in the Little League West Regional Tournament in San Bernardino, Calif.
The team from the east side of Kauaʻi captured the District 1 Championship before advancing to the state tournament.
Kawaihau lost its opening game to Honolulu 7-6 in 7 innings, but won its next three games in the elimination bracket: 7-1 over Waipio, 7-3 over Hilo and 5-4 over Central East Maui.
That set up a rematch again Honolulu. Kawaihau Community beat the Oʻahu team 1-0 in 7 innings in the first game and 3-2 in the next game to capture the state title.
The young athletes from Kauaʻi will now represent the Hawaiʻi on a national stage.
The team has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help offset transportation, lodging and other expenses for the players, families and coaches as they prepare for the West Regional Tournament, which runs Aug. 8-14. Their first game will be Aug. 9 against Arizona.
The team has currently raised nearly $5,000 of their $9,000 target.
If the All-Stars continue their winning streak, they could advance to Williamsport, Penn., for the Little League World Series.
