Four new officers have officially joined the ranks of the Kauaʻi Police Department.
Tim Atlas, Dylan Balaan, Henrique Motta and Ronson Nakoa-Moniz were sworn in on Monday during a graduation ceremony for the 103rd Police Recruit Class at the Kauaʻi War Memorial Convention Hall, surrounded by family, friends, and community members. The graduation marked the completion of six months of intensive academy training and the beginning of their careers in law enforcement, according to a news release from Kaua‘i County.

“Today we recognize the hard work of four individuals who have chosen to serve the people of Kauaʻi,” said Chief of Police Rudy Tai. “This profession requires courage, compassion, and a commitment to our community. We are proud of the work these officers have put in and excited to see the positive impact they will make. Congratulations, and welcome to the KPD ‘ohana.”
The four officers will now begin field training alongside experienced members of the force. During this phase, the officers will respond to calls for service and continue building their skills through hands-on experience and mentorship.
The Kauaʻi Police Department is recruiting the next generation of officers to serve our community. Police officer salaries range from approximately $83,000 to over $118,000 annually and include a comprehensive benefits package.
