Firefighters responded to a brush fire in Wainiha reported Monday afternoon, according to a County of Kauaʻi press release.

The fire was reported shortly before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Ananalu Road and Anahulu Road.

Crews from the Kauaʻi Fire Department, including personnel from the Hanalei Fire Station, along with the Air 1 helicopter and the on-duty battalion chief, responded to the scene and discovered a small controlled burn rather than an active fire.

No road closures were reported, and officials said there was no threat to the public.
