Lifeguard services at two North Shore beaches on Kauaʻi were suspended Thursday afternoon because flooding at Mānoa Stream made access along Kūhiō Highway unsafe, according to County officials.

The closures affect lifeguard towers at Kēʻē Beach and Hāʻena Beach Park, leaving both locations without an on-duty ocean safety personnel until weather conditions improve.

Officials urge motorists to avoid the area. Crews will keep monitoring the area and will reopen the towers once it is deemed safe.

For up-to-date information about ocean conditions and ocean safety, please speak to a county lifeguard at any lifeguard station, click here, or call the Ocean Safety Bureau at 808-241-4984.
