Public meeting scheduled for Kukui Street, Olohena Road improvements

Kauaʻi County Department of Public Works invites the community to participate in a public meeting about the Kukui Street and Olohena Road Improvements Project planned for the Kapaʻa District.

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. June 23 at the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex pavilion.

Upgrading the corridor is aimed at improving traffic flow, pedestrian mobility and stormwater infrastructure in Kapaʻa Town.

The project includes:

  • Mini-roundabout at the intersection of Kāhau Road, Olohena Road and Lehua Street.
  • Pavement resurfacing.
  • Roadway widening.
  • Installation of sidewalks, crosswalks and bike lanes.
  • Stormwater infrastructure improvements.

Public participation and feedback are highly encouraged in planning this project.

The meeting agenda will include background and history of the project, a discussion about the conceptual design and questions/comments from the public.
