Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi Resort & Spa has donated more than $45,000 to the Visitor Industry Charity Walk, a statewide fundraising initiative that supports nonprofit organizations serving communities across Hawaiʻi.

The resort recently presented the contribution to the annual campaign, organized by the Hawaiʻi Lodging & Tourism Association and benefiting hundreds of charitable organizations focused on youth development, social services, environmental stewardship and other community needs.

“The Charity Walk continues to make a meaningful difference for nonprofit organizations that provide essential services to communities across Hawaiʻi,” said Michael Murphy, general manager of the resort and chair of the charity event.

“As rising costs continue to place additional strain on local families, many nonprofits are experiencing increased demand for assistance. Supporting the Charity Walk helps ensure these organizations have the resources they need to serve our communities.”

Funds raised through the Charity Walk remain on the island where they are collected, allowing local nonprofits to directly benefit from community support.

According to organizers, the Kauaʻi Charity Walk generated more than $700,000 in 2025 for nonprofit organizations across the island. Murphy, who also serves as chair of the 2026 Kauaʻi Charity Walk, has worked with association leaders to build on that momentum and expand fundraising efforts this year.

Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi supports the campaign through a variety of employee-led fundraising activities held throughout the year. Resort departments organize events ranging from a popular kalua pork sale hosted by the engineering team to Valentine’s Day rose sales coordinated by human resources.

Additional fundraisers include white elephant sales, silent auctions, jean days and employee pledge drives.

The annual fundraising campaign concludes with official Charity Walk events held on each Hawaiian island. Registration fees from the walks also contribute to the overall fundraising totals.

This year’s Kauai Charity Walk was held on May 2 at Vidinha Stadium Soccer Field in Līhuʻe, bringing together hospitality workers, residents, and community supporters to raise money for local nonprofit organizations.
