Portion of Waimea Canyon Drive to be closed daily for resurfacing work

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation notifies highway users on Kauaʻi about the daily closure of Waimea Canyon Drive, between Maʻule Road and Kōkeʻe Road, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. weekdays for full depth reconstruction and resurfacing.

The first closure is planned for Monday, June 22. Anticipated completion of this section is Monday, Aug. 17.

Waimea Canyon Drive will be open after each shift from 11:30 p.m. to 8 a.m., as well as on weekends and holidays.

Local traffic and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the closure. A detour to get up to Kōkeʻe State Park will available on Kōkeʻe Road in Kekaha.

Signs are placed alerting highway users about the closure. All work is weather permitting.
