Kaua‘i police seek man wanted for questioning after patient treated at hospital for gunshot wound

The Kaua’i Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a man from Hanapēpē who is wanted as a person of interest in a criminal investigation, after receiving a report from Kauaʻi Veterans Memorial Hospital that a patient had been treated for a gunshot wound on June 4, 2026.

Jason Bagain, 45, is 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 145 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He is known to frequent the areas of Waimea and Hanapēpē.

Police believe that this is an isolated incident and that the public is not in danger. However, members of the public are advised not to approach Bagain if seen, and to contact law enforcement immediately.
