Small storage unit goes up in flames in Kalāheo

The Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a fire at a small single-story storage structure on Thursday evening in Kalāheo.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were dispatched at 6:20 p.m. to a fire at Papalina Road. First responders discovered the room of origin was completely walled in and the only entrance was covered by plywood. Firefighters forced entry and successfully extinguished the fire. The scene was cleared shortly after 6:45 p.m.

Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $5,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
