Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 20 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Kaua‘i state roadways during the week of May 24-29.
PLEASE NOTE: In observance of Memorial Day, May 25, there will be no contraflow or lane closures unless otherwise permitted.

PUA LOKE TO KŌLOA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.0 and 5.2 in the vicinity of Rice Street and Kāhili Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 26-29 for landscape maintenance.
KĪPŪ TO ʻŌMAʻO
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 2.9 and 8.5 in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and Maha Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 26-29 for installing rumble strips on the edges and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
ʻŌMAʻO TO LĀWAʻI
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 9 and 9.6 in the vicinity of ‘Ūpā Road and Piko Road, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. May 26-29 for striping.
HANAPĒPĒ
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 15.9 and 16.2 in the vicinity of Waialo Road and Hanapēpē Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 26-29 for landscape maintenance.

LĪHU‘E
- LANE SHIFT in the northbound direction near mile post 0.9, in the vicinity of Rice Street, from 10 a.m. to noon May 27 for utility inspection.
NĀWILIWILI
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction near mile post 0.8, in the vicinity of Lālā Road and Kapule Highway, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 26-29 for installing pavement striping and markers on the roadway. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
HIGHWAYS 56/560
LĪHU‘E
- CENTER LANE CLOSURE in both directions, between mile posts 0.1 and 0.3 in the vicinity of Hardy Street and Poinciana Street, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 25-29 for waterline replacement. No left turns will be allowed through the work area.
KAPAʻA TO KEĀLIA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 9 and 12 in the vicinity of Kawaihau Road, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. May 26-28 for landscape maintenance.
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 12 and 14 in the vicinity of ʻAliomanu Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 26-29 for landscape maintenance.
KALIHIWAI TO PRINCEVILLE
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 24.2 and 28 in the vicinity of Kāhiliholo Road to Emmalani Drive, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. May 26-29 for striping.
HANALEI
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction, between mile posts 2.8 and 3.3 in the vicinity of Mālolo Road and ʻAnae Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 26-29 for shoulder reconstruction.
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction, between mile posts 2.8 and 3.3 in the vicinity of Mālolo Road and ʻAnae Road, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 26-29 for paving work. Traffic will be detoured to Weke Road via Mālolo Road.
WAIKOKO
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 4.6 and 4.8 from Waikoko Bridge to Lumahaʻi Beach, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 26-29 for striping.
LUMAHAʻI TO WAINIHA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 5 and 7 in the vicinity of Wainiha Powerhouse Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 26-29 for landscape maintenance.
HIGHWAY 58
PUA LOKE
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the eastbound direction, between mile posts 1.9 and 2.0 in the vicinity of Kukui Grove Street and Kaumualiʻi Highway, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. May 26-29 for sewer line installation. Right turn pocket heading eastbound on Kaumualiʻi Highway will be closed and the shoulder eastbound on Kaumualiʻi Highway after the turn pocket will be closed. Traffic to detour to Haleko Road.
HIGHWAY 550
KŌKE‘E
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.1 and 3.2 in the vicinity of Huakaʻi Road, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 26-29 for pavement markers and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 4.6 and 11.5, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 26-29 for shoulder reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
HIGHWAY 580
WAILUĀ HOMESTEADS
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction, between mile posts 1.6 and 1.9 in the vicinity of Kahawai Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 26-29 for installing slats on the chain link fence.
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the westbound direction, between mile posts 5.4 and 5.5 in the vicinity of the Wailuā reservoir, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 23 for guardrail repair..
HIGHWAY 5600
WAILUĀ TO KAPAʻA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE, between mile posts 0.8 and 3 in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway (Wailuā) to Olohena Road (Kapaʻa), from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 26-29 for applying sealant.
