Flood advisory issued for parts of Kaua‘i

A flood advisory is in effect until 3:15 p.m. for the north and west portions of Kaua‘i.

At 12:15 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain over those areas of the Garden Isle, with rain falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour, with the heaviest rain near Wainiha. Additional moderate to locally heavy showers are expected through the afternoon.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Kekaha, Princeville, Kīlauea, Alakai Swamp Trails, Kōke‘e State Park, Nāpali State Park, Wainiha, Hā‘ena, North Fork Wailua Trails, Waimea, Hanalei, Polihale, Mana, Barking Sands, Waimea Canyon State Park and Kalihiwai.

Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams are anticipated.
