Applications are now being accepted through May 29 for Culinary Foundation: Skills, Flavor & Creativity — Cohort 22 of a 5-day, hands-on course designed for aspiring chefs which is a part of the Culinary Alliance CIP x CIA Workforce Development Program.

The course is taught by a Culinary Institute of America instructor and builds a strong foundation in essential cooking techniques, from timing to plating and kitchen organization.
Students will:
- Learn essential culinary techniques and kitchen fundamentals.
- Practice preparing classic dishes throughout multiple categories.
- Explore flavor through interactive tastings and guided discussions.
- Develop timing, organization and plating skills for real-world service.
- Show off their creativity in a capstone market basket challenge.
Full tuition scholarships — valued at $1,500 per student — are available for Cohort 22 through the Hawai‘i Ag & Culinary Alliance CIP x CIA Workforce Development Scholarship Fund with support from the TSK Charitable Foundation.
Designed for high school students, the course builds essential kitchen skills — from knife work to plating — while exploring flavor through interactive tastings and challenges as students prepare a variety of dishes under the guidance of expert instructors.
The CIP x CIA Workforce Development Program is a partnership between Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Kapiʻolani Community College in Honolulu and Culinary Institute of America.
