Water service shutdown scheduled in Kekaha for fire hydrant upgrades

A water service shutdown on Elepaio Road on Thursday, May 14, to install a single service lateral and a new hydrant valve, and to upgrade a hydrant lateral.

The improvements will enhance water system reliability and fire protection in the area, according to a news release from Kaua‘i County.

The closure is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

Customers are advised to plan accordingly, store enough water for household needs during the shutdown period, and avoid using appliances that require water. Do not let your water heater empty.

Once water service is restored, the Department of Water will flush the system through an open hydrant, followed by road repair work.
