A temporary water service shutdown is scheduled for portions of Kekaha on Thursday, April 30, as crews complete system upgrades, according to the Kauaʻi County Department of Water.

The shutdown will affect customers on Ulili Road between Akialoa Road and Akekeke Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

Officials said the interruption is needed to install a new 4-inch valve and upgrade a hydrant lateral, improvements intended to enhance system reliability and fire protection in the area. Please prepare by storing enough water for household use and avoid using water-dependent appliances during the outage.

The department also advised residents not to allow water heaters to empty.

Following the restoration of service, crews will flush the system through an open hydrant.
The Department of Water apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience as the work is completed.
