The youth-led, 1-day summit will bring together more than 200 students from around the Garden Island for interactive discussions, career exploration and networking opportunities with community leaders and professionals.

This year’s theme “Kupu Kelakela” means “to rise in glory, to grow in greatness” and reflects the summit’s focus on empowering young people to build skills, confidence and connections needed to pursue their goals and contribute to their communities on Kauaʻi.

Kauaʻi County Mayor Derek Kawakami, who will serve as the summit’s keynote speaker, emphasized the importance of supporting the island’s next generation of leaders.

“Our young people are one of our greatest strength,” said Kawakami in a release about summit registration. “The summit gives students an opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills, explore career pathways and connect with mentors and resources that can support their future here at home. The county is proud to support this effort.”

The summit features two rounds of breakout sessions surrounding topics including:

  • Substance abuse prevention.
  • Workforce development.
  • Financial literacy.
  • Healthcare careers.
  • Mental health and wellness.
  • Environmental stewardship.

Students will also be able to connect with local employers, financial institutions and service providers during an on-site resource fair.
