Single lane closure will be in effect next week as the Hawai’i Department of Transportation will implement nightly lane closures on Kūhiō Highway in Hanalei as paving work continues in the area.

The single-lane closures will be in effect between Mālolo Road and ‘Anae Road from Tuesday, April 28, through mid-May. Work is scheduled overnight Monday through Friday, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
During construction hours, traffic will be detoured to Weke Road via Mālolo Road, according to transportation officials in a press release.
The closure will allow construction crews to complete paving work along the highway. Temporary striping will be installed as part of the project, with permanent striping planned at a later date.
All work is dependent on the weather.
Officials also noted that the nightly single-lane closures in Hanalei are expected to continue through the summer months as work progresses.
