UPDATE: Flash Flood Warning Issued For Kaua´i County
UPDATE: The flash flood warning has been extended until 8 pm Monday evening.
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flash flood warning for the entire County of Kaua´i until 8 pm. It was initially in effect until noon, extended until 12:45 pm, cancelled, then re-issued through most of Monday night.
At 9:53 am, river gages remained high and, with unsettled weather expected across Kaua´i through this afternoon, flooding may affect any part of the island.
Flooding is possible in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures are also possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in locations with steep terrain.
Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even if they are currently dry. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don’t drown.
This warning may need to be extended beyond 12:45 pm if flooding persists.
