A high surf advisory is in effect for north-facing shores of Kauaʻi through 6 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.

Forecasters say surf is expected to build to 12 to 16 feet as a north-northwest swell peak tonight into Monday.

The incoming swell will produce strong breaking waves and powerful currents along exposed coastlines, making ocean conditions dangerous for swimmers and surfers.
