16 lane closures scheduled during week of March 21-27 on Kaua‘i state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 16 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Kaua‘i state roadways during the week of March 21-27.

NOTE: In observance of Prince Kuhio Day on March 26 there will be no contraflow or lane closures unless otherwise permitted.

HIGHWAY 50

KĪPŪ TO ʻŌMAʻO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 2.9 and 8.5 in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and Maha Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through March 25 for installing rumble strips on the edges and striping.

KALĀHEO TO ‘ELE‘ELE

  • SHOULDER CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 13 and 14.9 in the vicinity of Laulea Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through March 25 for cutting the grass.

KAUMAKANI TO WAIMEA

  • SHOULDER CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 19 and 22.2 in the vicinity of Kaumakani Avenue and the Russian Fort Pāʻulaʻula, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 23-25 for cutting the grass.

HIGHWAY 51

LĪHU‘E

  • RIGHT SHOULDER CLOSURE possible in either direction, near mile post 1.9 in the vicinity of Ahukini Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 23-25 for grading the shoulder.

LĪHU‘E

  • CENTER LANE CLOSURE in both directions, between mile posts 0.1 and 0.4 in the vicinity of Hardy Street and Ahukini Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through March 26nightly on Sunday, March 22 to Thursday, March 26 for waterline replacement. No left turns will be allowed through the work area.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the southbound direction, between mile posts 3 and 4 in the vicinity of Kauaʻi Beach Drive and Kauaʻi Beach Road, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. March 23-25 for cutting grass.

WAILUĀ

  • FULL CLOSURE in the southbound direction on Wailuā Mauka Bridge, between mile posts 5.7 and 5.9 in the vicinity of Wailuā Marina Road and Kuamoʻo Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. March 23-27 for concrete work on the Wailuā Mauka Bridge. Traffic will be routed to Wailuā Plantation Bridge.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 10 and 14 in the vicinity of Cane Haul Road to ʻAliomanu Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 25-27 for cutting grass.

KĪLAUEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 21 and 23 in the vicinity of Waiakalua Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 23-25 and 27 for cutting grass.

KALIHIWAI TO PRINCEVILLE

  • LANE SHIFT possible in either direction, between mile posts 24.4 and 28.1 in the vicinity of Kāhiliholo Road to Emmalani Drive, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. March 23-25 for striping.

HIGHWAY 58

PUA LOKE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE after Kukui Grove Street in the eastbound direction near mile post 1.9, in the vicinity of Kukui Grove Street, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. March 23-25 for sewer line installation.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.0 and 3.7, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 23-25 for cutting grass.

HIGHWAY 550

KŌKE‘E

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE between mile posts 0.1 and 3.2, in the vicinity of Huakaʻi Road, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 23-25 and 27 for pavement marker and striping. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 4.6 and 11.5, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. March 23-25 and 27 for shoulder reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAY 5600

WAILUĀ TO KAPAʻA

  • COMPLETE CLOSURE between mile posts 0.8 and 3, in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway and Olohena Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through March 26 for paving.
