Water service shutdown planned this week for portions of Wailuā Homesteads

Kaua‘i County Department of Water scheduled a water service shutdown this week for portions of Wailuā Homesteads.

The planned shutdown is slated for 9:30 a.m. until about 3 p.m. March 24, weather permitting.

Areas affected

  • Portion of Haleilio Road: From Sleeping Giant Trailhead to Kaulana Road.
  • Kaulana Road.
  • Portion of Kīhei Road: From Kaulana Road to the cul-de-sac.

Additional affected areas, not listed above, to be notified directly by crews:

  • One customer on Nonou Road.
  • ʻŌpaekaʻa Falls Lookout restrooms on Kuamoʻo Road.

The shutdown will allow county Department of Water crews to install a pressure release valve.

A water buffalo providing potable, or drinking, water will be available at Wailuā Houselots Park 4988 Nonou Road. Customers must bring their own water containers.

Customers located in the affected areas are advised to be prepared.

Take these steps

  • Store enough water to meet your needs until water service is restored.
  • Notify family, friends, tenants and neighbors.
  • Ensure water heaters do not empty, especially if they are faulty.
  • Avoid using appliances that require water.
