Healing Horses Kauaʻi is offering various programs this month designed to demonstrate the growing research on the benefits of human-animal connections.
An upcoming group program gives participants an opportunity to cultivate communication practices through activities with horses.
Dr. Penny Lloyd will lead the program, “Thriving Together,” which utilizes human-animal interaction to help individuals develop practical skills.
Through connecting with horses, participants can heighten their awareness, achieve a regulated well-being, and benefit from therapeutic games. The experience aims to foster harmonious, collaborative, and consensual communication between humans, animals, and the land.
“With habitual practice, the most ordinary human-animal activity can become a playground of profound renewal,” Lloyd said. “Use these skills to proactively create vibrant health with the animals and land you love.”
The sessions will teach skills that build upon one another as follows:
- A Bond to Benefit Both: Basic skills of self-awareness and connection
- The Power of Yes: Basic skills of coherence, energy awareness, and stillness
- The Power of Love: Intermediate skills of mutual awareness and boundaries
- Sacred Geometry: Intermediate skills of quality touch and reciprocal “chi” energy flow
- Therapeutic Grooming: Advanced skills of universal awareness and movement medicine
- Movement Medicine: Advanced skills of interspecies synergy and therapeutic games
The first three sessions are scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 22; Saturday, March 28; and Sunday, March 29. Each session costs $60. Registration is available online.
This week, children will be spending their spring break in a fun-filled equestrian adventure in a safe, educational environment. They will have the opportunity to experience riding, horsemanship, games, and arts and crafts at a day camp with Healing Horses.
The day camp is open to children ages 4 to 14, from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20. The camp costs $70 per day, and spots may still be available. Register online or email hhkauai@gmail.com.
