Kapaʻa

The rehabilitation of a sewage pump station will result in a lane closure along Papaloa Road in Kapaʻa beginning this week.

A lane closure is planned for Papaloa Road near Wailua Kai Street in Kapaʻa.

Weather permitting, the Department of Public Works and the contractor, Kiewit, will work on the pump station from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 16, to Monday, March 23.

During this period, no parking will be allowed in the work zones. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic in these areas.

The project aims to upgrade the water main infrastructure to meet current water system standards, including existing fire flow requirements. The Department of Water and the contractor will conduct work from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Tuesday, March 17, to Friday, March 20.

The work necessitates intermittent lane closures on portions of Weke Road (between ʻAnae Road and Mālolo Road), ʻAnae Road (between Kūhiō Highway and Weke Road), Heʻe Road, and Mahimahi Road.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution and drive slowly when passing through the work area, follow flagger directions, and adhere to posted signs.
