Update 1 p.m. March 4: Water has been restored, and the restrooms are now open.

Original post: The restrooms at Salt Pond Beach Park and Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery are closed Tuesday morning following an emergency water service shutdown, county officials said.

The shutdown, initiated by the Department of Water, began at 9:30 a.m. March 4 to address a water line break affecting the area.

Officials said the restroom closures are expected to last approximately three to four hours while repairs are completed.

If emergency repair work extends beyond that timeframe, the Department of Parks and Recreation will close Salt Pond Beach Park until further notice, according to county officials.

Park users and cemetery visitors are advised to plan accordingly during the service interruption. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
