Service beyond uniform: Pacific Missile Range Facility conducts quarterly Adopt a Highway cleanup
Sailors and staff from Pacific Missile Range Facility Barking Sands on Kaua‘i came together last week to volunteer for an Adopt a Highway cleanup, demonstrating that service extends beyond the uniform and U.S. Navy base.

The quarterly cleanup is part of the facility’s partnership with Hawai‘i Department of Transportation’s Adopt a Highway program.
The Pacific Missile Range Facility ‘ohana take pride in its responsibility to care for the land and community where they live and serve.
“Through teamwork and shared purpose, we strengthen our [Pacific Missile Range Facility] ‘ohana, reinforce Navy core values and leave our environment better for those who come after us,” wrote the facility in a Feb. 9 Facebook post. “Special thanks to all of the volunteers who showed up to pick up trash and remove debris from along the highway. Your efforts helped to beautify the land and create a safer space for the native wildlife nesting nearby. Mahalo!”
