UPDATE: Flood advisory upgraded to flash flood warning; allowed to expire early today
Update at 2:33 a.m. Feb. 10, 2026: The National Weather Service upgraded the flood advisory previously in effect for Kaua’i to a flash flood warning because of heavy rains happening over the island.
No road closures were reported. However, Hanalei River was rising, with potential for flooding along Kūhiō Highway near the Hanalei Bridge.
The flash flood warning was allowed to expire at 2 a.m. today (Feb. 10).
Officials advise the public to remain vigilant as rain continues into the day. Kūhiō Highway near the Hanalei Bridge remains open at this time.
Stay tuned to local media for updates about road closures, should they occur.
Story originally posted at 11:01 p.m. Feb. 9, 2026: National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu issued a flood advisory for all of Kaua‘i effective until 2 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 10) because of the likelihood of flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

Minor flooding on roads and in poor drainage areas and streams is expected. Island streams also are elevated and steadily rising.
National Weather Service radar indicated at 10:44 p.m. Monday (Feb. 9) moderate to locally heavy rainfall over much of Kaua‘i.
Rain was falling at half an inch to 1 inch per hour.
The public is advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
