Completion of the court interpreter orientation workshop also is required.
Court interpreters are independent contractors and not state Judiciary employees. They assist the courts in providing access to justice for court customers with limited English proficiency.
Pay is between $35 to $100 per hour — depending on how the potential interpreter performs on the written and oral exams — with a 2-hour minimum.
