Hanalei firefighters contain structure fire on the North Shore

Fire crews extinguished a structure fire in Hanalei late Wednesday night, officials said.
Firefighters were dispatched to Kūhiō Highway shortly after 11:05 p.m. on Jan. 14 in response to reports of a structure fire. Personnel from the Hanalei Fire Station, along with the on-duty battalion chief, responded to the scene.
According to the report, crews arrived around 11:20 p.m. and found a storage tent, estimated at about 10 feet by 20 feet, fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire but discovered it had spread to a nearby shipping container.
Crews extinguished the fire extension and addressed remaining hot spots before securing the scene. Firefighters cleared the area shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday, No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
