Water service shutdown, lane closure set for portions of Wailuā Homesteads on Jan. 15

Kaua‘i County Department of Water notifies the public that a water service shutdown is scheduled later this week for portions of Wailuā Homesteads.

Areas affected will be:

  • Portion of ʻŌpaekaʻa Road.
  • Portion of Puʻupilo Road.
  • Puʻupilo Place.
  • Pūlama Road.
  • Makana Road.
  • Portion of Poʻo Road.
  • All branching roads.

The service shutdown is slated for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 15, while crews repair a section of the mainline, weather permitting.

Water service will be temporarily unavailable or affected customers could experience very low pressure during the shutdown.

A water buffalo providing drinking water will be located near 6391 Puʻupilo Road; customers must bring their own water containers.

Affected customers are advised to prepare for the shutdown by taking the following steps:

  • Store enough water to meet your needs until water service is restored.
  • Notify family, friends, tenants and neighbors.
  • Ensure water heaters do not empty during the shutdown.
  • Avoid using appliances that require water during the shutdown.

Traffic Advisory

A partial lane closure also will be in effect during the mainline repairs, near the intersection of Olohena Road and Puʻupilo Road.

Flaggers will be at the site to assist with traffic control. Motorists are advised to use caution and obey all posted signs, traffic controls and flaggers.
