Kauaʻi County Department of Water notifies the public about a scheduled water service shutdown scheduled next week for customers on several Līhuʻe roadways.

Water will be turned off from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 14 so a crew with Cushnie Construction Co. can replace a hydrant and hydrant lateral, weather permitting.

The temporary shutoff will affect water customers on Lalei Place, a portion of Palaʻi Street and a portion of Kāʻana Street.

Water service will be unavailable or some affected customers could experience extremely low pressure during the planned shutoff.

A water buffalo providing drinking water will be available at the corner of Lalei Place and Palaʻi Street. Customers must bring their own water containers.

Community members within the affected locations are advised to prepare for the shutdown by:

  • Storing enough water to meet their needs until water service can be restored.
  • Notifying family, friends, tenants and neighbors.
  • Ensuring water heaters do not empty during the shutdown.
  • Avoiding the use of appliances that require water, during the shutdown.

A partial lane closure will also be in effect on Palaʻi Street. A flagger will assist with traffic control.
