The Wailua Mauka Bridge over Kūhiō Highway will fully close nightly for repair work next week.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation will close the Wailua River Bridge between Kuamoʻo Road and Wailua Marina Road nightly. Līhuʻe-bound (southbound) drivers will be detoured to a contraflow lane on the Mayor Bryan Baptiste Bridge.

The full closure will be from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, Jan. 5, through Friday, Jan. 9, allowing the contractor to pour concrete for a structural element of the bridge.

There are 11 concrete pours, spall repairs, and paving left for the entirety of the Wailua Bridge Repair Project, which is expected to be completed in March 2026.
